Gesto y Materia

Gesto y Materia is a group exhibition that was held at the Historic Building of the University of Oviedo from September to 13 October 2025. Curated by Santiago Martínez.

• Manantial (Manantial (2025): Oil on canvas

Manantial is a project centred on the sensations and experiences lived in nature through the passing of the seasons, emotions that have been retained in Jorge Nava's memory and transferred through matter, gesture, and colour. A feeling of freedom emanates from it: it not only reveals technical mastery and command of the palette, but above all it makes evident the emotional tension with which the artist conceived it. Contact with nature has become the artist's primary impulse: "I improvise and experiment with underlying sensations — in this case a recurring one: the flowering of plants in water, a spring from which flowers bloom."
